GDS to train Civil Servants in digital transformation

The Government Digital service has launched a new training course to help senior Civil Servants with non-technical backgrounds to better understand digital transformation.

It’s designed to give public sector leaders an understanding of their wider role in supporting and overseeing digital transformation programmes, all while demystifying digital terminology and working methods like Agile.

Key outcomes for the programme include:

  • Awareness of the key priorities for digital in government to 2030

  • Awareness of the standards digital teams are held to and how adherence to these can be monitored

  • Understand how a multi-disciplinary team builds user-centred service design and what those digital teams need from leaders

  • The value of agile ways of working and how leaders can overcome governance challenges

Know where to access digital support and actions to take to accelerate digital leadership following this course

As the pace of digital transformation continues to accelerate, there’s widespread recognition that leaders in all public sector organisations will need a sound understanding of the digital landscape to perform effectively. That digital skill shift was emphasised in our recent infographic, Blueprint for Public Sector Leaders of the Future, where technological and digital understanding was a prominent theme.
